You can still use an electric blade grinder to prepare your grounds for pouring over coffee, but we would advise taking out the middle screen to prevent some of the finely ground particles from getting through.
  2. Place a paper/cloth filter on top of the mug with a filter holder attached.
  3. Pour coffee grinds into the filter until about 3/4 full - you want enough room for the water to flow through without spilling over.
  4. Wet the filter with some hot water to pre-heat it, and then discard the water.
  5. Pour about 1/3 cup of hot water from a kettle jug onto your grounds. You can start with warm water if you want and wait for about 30 seconds. The coffee poured over will absorb most of the moisture during this time, resulting in a little "bloom" that looks like brownish foam on top of the grinds.
  6. When you are ready to brew coffee, pour slowly in a circular pattern from the outside of your mug into the center, gently stirring the grinds with a spoon during this time. This will ensure an even distribution of water over all your grounds for pour.
  7. Add more water in stages until you have added about two-thirds of a cup - this should be enough to brew one mug.
  8. After it has finished brewing, take the filter out and slowly add any excess water back into the sink while ensuring not to spill anything on yourself or burn yourself in the process. If you find that your coffee is too weak at this point, feel free to add hot water by itself to make up the difference instead!
