Coffee is a delicious, hot drink that many people start their day with (many users like to use one of the best small coffee makers outlined here for this purpose). Most people have heard of coffee but not as much about Sumatra coffee and what makes this type of coffee so special. Coffee beans are grown in various countries such as Brazil, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Indonesia. The most popular types of coffees come from Central America because they are the cheapest to produce.

However, one country stands out among all others when it comes to producing quality coffee: Indonesia! Some people say that Sumatra coffee is the best coffee in the world, and with good reason. This type of coffee has a deep earthy flavor that comes from its origins as wild jungle plants. It is not for everyone, but those who enjoy it seem to love it!

What is Sumatra Coffee?

So, what is Sumatra Coffee? Sumatra coffee is a type of coffee that, as the name suggests, is grown on the island of Sumatra. It has a rich, earthy taste and deep flavor that is best enjoyed complete black, without milk or sugar. The beans are usually roasted medium-dark to bring out their natural flavors. Some say it tastes more like cocoa than other coffees because of its dark chocolate undertones mixed with floral aromas.

However, if you like your Sumatra coffee brewed, one thing is for sure: You will never forget the unique taste! It can be found in many different types and blends. What makes this coffee so unique? First, it is the ingredients that make up this coffee drink: cocoa beans, cane sugar, milk powder, vanilla extract, natural flavors, and other various spices to give it its distinct taste. Second, it's how the beans are roasted. Once these special Sumatra beans are harvested, they are then transported to local gathering stations where they are prepared by being sorted and cleaned.

What makes Sumatran Coffee Special?

Best Sumatran Coffee Guide

The unique special flavor and aroma of Sumatran coffee are attributed to several factors. The beans' origin is from Indonesia, which is known for its vast tropical rain forests. They receive a higher quality roast than most other types of coffees. This is because they are partially shielded from sunlight, which allows for a slower roast. Once it is roasted, coffee Sumatran beans have a dark brown color and are twice as large as other beans.

They are ground using steel mills instead of stone ones because this helps retain its freshness while giving it a smoother taste. After all this processing, it becomes instant coffee harvested from 100% Arabica (i.e.) real Sumatra coffee beans! The best part about this type of coffee is that it is a full-bodied coffee with a rich aroma and taste attributed to its unique blend of ingredients.

  • 1 cup Sumatra’s ground coffee
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  4. Fill the rest of that warm mug up halfway with milk.
  5. Add your sweetened condensed milk while stirring it with a small whisk.
  6. Next up, pour in the rest of the cream that is left over.

  8. Stir until everything is well blended together.
  9. Finally, pour this mixture into your cooled empty mug from earlier.
  10. Once it has been poured in, there should be space left for about 1 cup or 8 ounces worth of hot water so add this to it. Stir quickly and serve your coffee!

Types of Sumatra Blend Coffee Beans

Different Types of Sumatra Blend Coffee Beans

There are different Sumantran coffee blends that can be used in the morning, afternoon, or evening. For example, a light and refreshing blend called "Coffee Delight" is perfect for early mornings because it has low amounts of caffeine but contains B vitamins to keep you alert. If you're looking for more caffeine, try out our rich Costa Rican Blend, which will help wake up your senses with an earthy fruit flavor mixed with chocolate notes making this one great cup o' joe!

Here are four different types of sumatra blend coffee beans - Arabica, Robusta, Liberica, and Excelsa.

  • Arabica

This coffee is grown in the high elevations near Mount Baru and typically consists of strong but mellow flavors. This coffee bean can grow to an average diameter of 6 centimeters and has very thin skin that often has cracks.

  • Robusta

Unlike Arabica beans, these have thick skins easily removed from the rest of the bean, making them very easy to work with for both farmers and buyers alike. However, they have somewhat of a bitter taste compared to Arabica. Robusta beans are often used in premixed espresso blends.

  • Liberica

This type of coffee grows best at an altitude between 1,000 meters above sea level and is commonly sold as Sumatra Mandheling Indonesian peaberry, or SLIP (single large irregular piece/singular). Its name comes from its flavor being associated with Rooibos tea plants. They have long fibers that contain two beans and are often separated to be sold as peaberries. They are similar to giling basah and lintong coffee and it is perfect for breakfast! Sumatran coffee’s such as Liberica are said to be best taken as soon as you wake up!

  • Excelsa

This type of coffee grows best at an altitude between 1,600 meters above sea level and is the rarest coffee bean. It can only grow in a certain area within Indonesia which makes growing this product cost-effective. Luckily for consumers though, their unique flavor makes them worth the higher price tag that they come with.

Is Sumatra Blend Coffee Good for Espresso?

Sumatra coffee’s often used as espresso because of their lower acidity and higher roast. When used for espresso, it is very smooth but still gives the drinker a good flavor with a nice aftertaste. This makes them one of the most popular types of beans for espresso and coffee in general. A good cup of espresso will have just enough of this quality so that you can still enjoy the undertones associated with different types of beans, such as Arabica or Sumatra, but not so much that it overpowers everything else. If your espresso has way too much acidity, then you may need to mix something into your drink to counteract this, such as milk or sugar, depending on how strong they are!
