Review: Jura E8 Coffee and Espresso Machine

The Jura E8 fully automatic coffee machine is made by one of the most famous coffee maker company "Jura". Meanwhile, this product line is in the 4th generation. With 17 coffee specialties just by pressing a button and its "Extra Shot" addon this machine is considered by me as the best espresso machine currently available on the market. Allthrough this is a great machine, size and weight may discourage you. Nevertheless, in this review of the Jura E8 we had a close look to the delivered parts, how easy various coffee specialties were made and rated the overall impression of this machine. I´m sure that this will help you to decide if the Jura E8 will fit into your kitchen or office corner.

As unpacking this machine, the elegant and modern design is the first thing you see - well done Jura! It is available in diferent colors in stainless steel. The overall dimensions are 17.7"D x 23.9"W x 18.4"H which should fit in the most households. It is equipped with an 2,8" display with already assigned buttons for the most common coffee variations. The built-in six level G3 grinder grinds your beans to the level you like, and this in pretty fast and in comparision with other machines, quite quietly. It includes the "P.E.P. - Pulse Extraction Process" to have better aroma. Due to it´s seperate hot-water pipe, it is also possible to do hot beverages like tea. And what I personally find the most innovative is the "Extra Shot" button. This simply adds a extra shot of strong brew into your cup. The water tank can contain 16 ounces which was fine for us and will most probably be fine for a family as well. A great point is that you can brew two beverages on on click, which is pretty helpful if you have a birthday party with many guests to serve fast.

As energy consumption plays a increasingly important role, we notify you that on the top spikes like heating up, the energy consumption is around 1450 watts, which is in the middle top compared to other machines in this class. But, it also comes with an energy saving mode which compensates this value.

Besides the integrated coffee grinder water tank and water filters it comes with a one-click cleaning system for the milk system. It will pump water through the system to clean out the rest of the milk to avoid dirty pipes or mold within the pipes. This saves you time as you don´t need to disassemble the milk pipes to clean them in your dishwasher or by hand. Cleaning Tablets are needed for the machine in our test all 2-3 weeks, depending on the usage level. Filters are included, but also need to be renewed on a certain bases. This is the only disadvantage we saw - the additional parts to be bought to keep the maintenance of the machine can be expensive. Of cause, you can try to not use the original ones but use products which are compatible with this machine.
